Can I extrude edges of an plane in their individual dircetion?

Hi Guys,

I think the Image below describes my problem best:
I want to extrude this kind of plane:

And when I press E and Alt + S I get this result:

But I want, that this extruded Edge plane has the same individual distance to its origin. There is what I want:

I hope, you understand, what I mean…
I didn’t found anything in the www, which describes this problem
Help would be great!

Have a nice day

Offset edges addon.

Alternatively making the extrusion as a curve, or using the curve to deform

Use the official Blender from the website when asking questions. Repository versions are different and if the problem is specific to that, you’re wasting everyone’s time.

Including full interface in the screenshots is good, but still need to pay attention how you are showing things. Don’t have the things you’re showing zoomed out in the viewport so it’s hard to view. You might know what it is exactly, but for everyone else it’s just bunch of lines and need to view it clearly.

In your screenshots above there’s room to do that, and also to duplicate the geometry and show what happens next to it so you don’t necessarily have to make multiple shots. Could’ve also added more geometry to visualize the third image. And whatever doesn’t fit can be included in the example .blend file that should be attached in the starting post despite if you use images to explain or not.

  • track as a curve
  • converted to mesh, track width extruded with offset edges addon
  • edges before extrusion
  • after
