Weight painting not working on rigged character

Hi everyone!

I’ve used Blender before to create some basic characters for some mobile games.
I’m now working on a prototype and encountered an issue that I cannot seem to be able to fix.

After creating my armature I parented my mesh to it with “Automatic weights”.

After that I wanted to adjust the weights here and there a bit, but the brush won’t paint.
I tried all 3 modes (face selection, vertex selection and without any of them), I tried multiple brushes and other ways to try and fix it, but it doesn’t work in any way.
It might be that there is some setting I’m not aware of, but in the past I had no issue here.

[SOLVED] - I reinstalled blender and the issue fixed itself!

downloading the blend file didn’t work here… ?

Shot in the dark:
have you checked ‘Auto Normalize’?

In Properties/Data tab: are the vertex groups there? can you assign individual vertices to groups?

Select the rig and use Weight Paint. Like motimo said, then select the vertex group you want to edit. It works here.
