[SOLVED] Please help a newbie with extruding at an angel!

I meant at an angle!!! (my daughters name is Angel lol)

I am trying to model typography similar to this:

I load a text svg into blender. While still a curve, I extrude it. The text in the example appears to be extruded at an angle. How can I extrude this at an angle with the base unchanged.

Thank you for your help.

hi there! when you extrude, i think by default it is locked to the Z axis, if you press Z while extruding, it should unlock and you’ll be able to extrude at any angle. if you press X or Y, you will extrude on those axis’ instead.

hope i have been of help.

When you have type your text line … you can too convert it as mesh ( menu object, convert, text/curve to mesh ) … remove double first then use it as a mesh … This way you can transform it way easier.

You might find some of the tips in this thread useful.

Thanks. But, I think that only works with extruding a mesh?

Okay I will try this as a mesh. I was not using a mesh at first because I was getting all sorts of weird “errors” when I tried to extrude as a mesh. Maybe removing doubles first will fix this. Thanks!

This is extremely helpful!!! Thank you!!!

Hey, thanks! This definitely works. I just get weird geometry sometimes when convert text to a mesh first and then extrude. I have to figure out the “sometimes”.

Thanks.

Thanks everyone for your responses! They are all helpful!!!
