Subdividing the mesh while having same smoothing group.

When I subdivide a mesh it also change the smoothing group. How can I subdivide a mesh while having the same smoothing group? Thank you.

what are you trying to do? that mesh isnt subsurf friendly, and your not using interpolation? why subdivide?

I’m trying to increase the polycount to reduce the baking distortions. By the way I’m using substance painter.
