The Starfighter

The Starfighter is a single-seat, multirole fighter, that excels at interception and escort missions. Advanced scouting and surveillance missions are possible, once outfitted with a probe in the designated socket in the fuselage. Capable of space and atmospheric flight, combined with vertical take off and landing abilities on most terrain, makes the Starfighter an extremely versatile light-weight and high performance craft.

Both wings can be mounted with universal pylons and carry a variety of offensive and defensive weapons or equipment. Due to its folding wing configuration the Starfighter is suitable for carrier based operation with limited deck space.

The SF’s cockpit doubles as an escape pod and life boat. In case of emergency, it detaches completely and will be ejected from the rest of the ship. Being maneuverable on its own, the pod can be piloted using the same interface used for the Starfighter.

This asset is quite detailed and created with an eye towards current and next-generation needs in the gaming, VR and real-time film spaces.

Low/Highpoly modeling in Blender/Hardops, UVs, rigging and animation also Blender. Baking in Substance Designer(fully automated), texturing in Substance Painter. Rendering and Compositing in Blender!

So much was learned from this, for a start I new next to nothing about rigging, but I always knew learning it would add a new dimension to my work. Happy to report that rigging is amazing in Blender, love it! I also haven’t done any rendering in Blender before this, so I learned a lot about Cycles, the node trees and compositing in Blender. What any amazing piece of software!

Amazing stuff

Not so sure about how much of that front section is unsupported between the landing struts, would of thought it would be better further back for balance. Great looking thing though, you can tell it means business.

Awesome hard surface modeling!

Nice job Machin3! You have designed a very beautiful spaceship. Maybe some of the text signs could be smaller, but that is just an opinion…

I’m surprised this can’t received more attention! It looks amazing, as if they were ripped straight from a scifi movie.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work!

Here’s a bunch of gif’s of the animations!

Thanks Chris, appreciated!

Thanks for the feedback. The front is pretty thin and there’s not much weight to it, if you compare it the the main back section, which is wider has more depth and carries the wings and engines. I think it’'s balanced out pretty well, I’ve had another person says the same however, so there must be some truth to it
The idea for the entire design was to pay homage to classic starfighter proportions, cockpit in the back, long formula 1 style nose etc.
At the same time, I always felt like the scaling and proportion of say the SW’s x-wing or Galactica’s Viper are way off. Cockpits being way to big in relation to the rest, especially if you take a look at modern fighter planes, which where another major influence.
Thanks again, really appreciate it!

Thanks here as well, Igor!

Thanks, it’s a fair point. I’m bound by texture constraints of course and am already pushing it a lot, resulting in many of the decals being more blurry than I’d like them to be

Maybe it’s a slow month  Thanks for the kind words! Honored!

Very professional looking mode. 5stars for sure!
But the gifs in post above do not work  I wanted to see ’ deferred decal magic’

superimpressive stuff! 5*

good to see you back in the top row. You are truly an amazing operative.

When i look at this, Star Citizen came into mind.
Awesome stuff!!

Great ship design!! and nice still renders as well.

Really well produced! I love it

wow…

Really nice starfighter concept

Really awesome looking!
How long did it take for you to make this? Did you sketch it out before hand?
I’m doing a project in the summer which would include many ships similar to yours but I never made a ship in blender before and i’m wondering what your starting point was.
I already got a load of reference art.

awesome work! i too would like to see a making of. Really well done!

Realy realy nice! :spin:

OMG, it is awesome work.
