how to speed up mesh editing with high density models?

panning and rotating a model in object mode is fine and fast
but going into edit mode with this model turns into a pain of
stop motion.

any ideas how to make things refresh / run faster?

this is a fault of the viewport code in blender, little can be done.

cool thanks that is what I assumed and feared.

If you have setup custom properties on Mesh Display Panel, you should deactivate them. Things like “Display face normals” or “Edge Info Length” are serious frame rate killers on high density Meshes.

Yeah all that stuff is turned off anyway. To bad that high density meshes make Blender borderline unusable
