Click and drag to add objects?

Hey all.

In Lightwave and Modo, you can click a button to activate a tool (for example a sphere tool or box tool) and then click and drag in the view port to set the size, shape and location of the new object / mesh.

Is there any way to do that in Blender?

I hate clicking to add a plane, for example, and then having to move it to where I want. I want to be able to click and drag like I can in Lightwave and Modo.

Any thoughts?

New objects are added at the location of the 3d cursor (Shift+A)
Selected objects can be duplicated with Shift+D

I think this isn’t currently possible. Like C4D you can create a new object and tweak the settings then combine. Or you can create geometry in Edit mode at the 3D cursor.

Nothing else so far, I’m afraid. It’s a different kind of workflow than Modo.
For the record - I also miss the ctr-c / ctrl-v workflow for copy and paste of polygon selections from one object into another or duplication.
