Fade in/out objects in the viewport?

How can I fade in / out an object in my scene in the viewport?

scenario 1:
an object that has multiple materials assigned to it

scenario 2:
object assigned with a png alpha texture

I feel silly asking this question but I’m stumped.

You asked your question in the wrong section. Furthermore, I see, at least, three ways it can be done. One in post production.

Method one: Key frame the visibility of the materials in the Material tab if you have different materials on the same model.

Method two: Create a texture and add it to the model, but keyframe the visibility in the Texture and Material tab

Method three: Render the model in a video animation and then export it. Next import it in a video editing program (Blender or After Effects) and keyframe the visibility there.
