Crystals

Let it be known that I am no cycles guy. (I do BGE). Regardless, I was able to slap this quick render together and enhance it in a photo editing software. I know the crystals look kind of like plastic but that’s ok. I wasn’t aiming at realism. I just want to know what I can do to make the scene look better in general.

Make the ground mesh into a wet rock(Gloss and a good normal map), possibly with a noise texture of moss/mud. Tilt the camera a bit, and add a background Cave image. Add some water dropplets on the Crystals and also make them more transparent. Zoom in more on the Crystals so that they are infront of the camera and move the camera Closer too the rock mesh so it looks like the camera is laying on the rock.
Possibly add a crack in the rocks where a lot of smaller Crystals grow.
Naturally, blur the background image (focus on the Crystals).
You could tilt the rock and the Crystals instead of the camera (not the background image though, it’s supposed to be straight).
This is the quickest way i can Think of improving the scene.

plus, you could try using a different texture for the crystals, it can make quite a difference if you find a good one
