Need help finding a way to model controller port on a SNES model.

As the title says, I need help modeling a controller port on the front of my super nintendo console model. I am still a novice so there may also be other problems you see in my blend file so please feel free to correct me on something else to.

Here is the area I need help with circled in red.

  1. use this instead of edge split modifier



    the difference is that the edge split modifier literally splits the polygons apart. while the checkbox in the image uses something called “smoothing groups”.

  2. split your model up. there is not really any reason to have it all as one mesh.


here is the piece. its ready for subdivision surface, so just select it and do CTRL+2.
