Overlapping mesh = no ao why?

Hi i made a door frame. Around the door frame there is a wall. I baked an ao on the door frame but the ao isn’t seen on the edges where the wall hits the door frame, as seen in the pictures.

The wall is a separate mesh. If i bake an ao to the wall there is ao shadow along the door frame edges. But if i bake ao on the door frame, ao is there but there is no ao shadow along the wall edges.

BUT you can see a shadow inside, the ao shadow seems to hide… but why?

I have changed the distance and played around with the values… but nothing change. I mean, the ao works fine but there is no ao from the wall on the door frame, hmm…

I have been testing for a long time now… i re mapped the uv to a bigger texture i split the door frame for each side, i separated one side… and yes the uv map is island margin…

Can you see the baseboard? its totally black inside, that’s common… but the ao is not there… hmm…

It’s more “subtle” than “absent”. Maybe that’s how it sould be. Can you provide a blend file (simplified) ?
