Freestyle lines behind transparent plane.

Hi,

I’ve currently experimenting with mixing 2d Animation with 3d backgrounds, is there a way to make Freestyle lines generate behind transparent objects?

I’ve read that this may be a limitation of Freestyle, but posting just in case someone knows a workaround.

I’ve attached an image with the issue that I’m currently experiencing.

Workaround: once you’ve got your scene all set up, render the background separately. You can do this in two ways: 1) turn off the render icon (Outliner) for background objects, render, then turn off all foreground objects, turn the background objects back on, and render again. Then combine foreground/background in the compositor. 2) Or you could make a copy of your scene saved as a separate file (once all the animation, etc. is done) and delete foreground objects from one, background from the other. Then render both files and combine as suggested in procedure #1.

There may be other ways, too (and likely better ways). Perhaps someone else can jump in with those.

Thanks Rontarrant, i’ll have a play around.
