The first take on regular eyes (non-monster). The first pair of eyes is for clown state, and the second one (with slight glowing) for the moment of transformation to a monster clown.

For now I'm rather happy with this, I only need to add more veins.

It looks too ordinary: even in Its non-monster version It should look a bit odd, imho.
Besides the makeup that can do a lot, I'm talking about the face features. As It is now It really looks like the next door guy, while in reality (the novel) It comes from beyound space-time, and It's a sort of hypnotic appearance, which might barely be represented in human's mind like a giant absorbing-light-black spider. This guy might look like a serial killer at most.
By the way I suggest to look for horror movie posters to see how your creature can be displayed. An example that comes to my mind is The Shining poster
Everything's relative. Even saying "Everything's relative".

Actually, that's me But you're right, looks rather boring. I think I should add more facial features (wrinkles, etc.), make it older and shabbier.

It's more or less idle right now (there was a couple of rough months for me). But I've watched the "It" film in the cinema just a couple of days ago, so I think I need to get back to work!!! (never mind bold text, that was just a reminder for myself ).

EDIT: Pennywise is still alive! Don't look at dead lights!

I used Rico Cilliers's technique for the hair. Here is the tutorial on Youtube.

I am currently enjoying your beautiful country. I am on the MS Rakhmaninov on the Volga river half way between Moscow and St. Petersburg - stunning. We were given such a distorted and jaundiced view of Russia when we were younger, anyway keep up the good work and I await progress on this wonderful project.

Internet is patchy here on the ship, so there will not be much from me until I get home.

    Cheers, Clockski.

PS. That YouTube video you referenced is a really good one for hair, thanks for the link.

It's so hard getting back to work you haven't touch for a long time. First little step (uglifying "Pennywise The Evil Clown" incarnation):

Hey man, awesome stuff here !
As said earlier in the post the only thing that bugs me is the composition and after that lighting.
You make very detailed models, it's sad that much of it gets lost in the final image.

It's interesting to see your model "in context" (inside the bathroom) but it's not clear what you want to insist on, what you want to show us first.

In the first picture of the post : the boy take more space in the image than the clown, and is much more in light. our eye is attracted by that.
I dislike the fact that everything is seen from quite far away, as a spectator we are a bit outside of the main scene.

Maybe it's a bit too much to tell. I prefer the picture where he hold the basket , I found that a bit scary and very funny too. The narration is more simple I think, it work better to me.

What you can do also is something like this (sorry for my poor drawing skills) :

You can distort the whole set using a lattice so all the bathroom and the boy get distorted even when using a large focal lens.
You can also try to see what you get using a panoramic (360) camera.

Hope that can help, the model and textures are awesome, you just need to show it in a better way !

keep up the good work !

Hey, sozap! What a detailed post you wrote! Thanks.
I still haven't "finalized" composition in my head. I think I could try to make the clown climb out of the washing machine with twisted and distorted body, like in the new film (the scene with the fridge in the old house).
P.S. Don't worry about your drawing skills - they're still better than mine
