Well the second one FIRE, was much easier and less complex than the Men animation. The FIRE font elements are basically curve objects that are not cyclic (closed). Then I created long mesh objects with a subdivision, solidify and a curve modifier to follow the text. The mesh also has particle system with particles that fade over time (see BlenderGuru sparks tutorial). When I translate the mesh on the x axis, it flies into the screen and wraps around the text while the particles fly off.
