The bokeh effect looks cool.

just now downloading, thank you.

Thank you for some other informative blog.me atelie Where else could I get that type of information written in such an ideal means? I have a mission that I’m just now working on, and I have been at the look out for such information.

Very cool stuff.

Is it similar to Flash?

Thanks.

Yes and no

For animation (frame by frame, tweening, etc.) OT is arguably an improvement over Flash - but slightly different in that OpenToonz makes use of a vertical timeline (a traditional X-sheet as used by paper-based animators). It also works with keyframes and automatic tweening, just like Flash. OpenToonz does embedded timelines similar to graphic symbols in Flash. But no movieclips.

OpenToonz crushes Flash for a paper-based workflow (whereby the animator(s) draw the lineart on paper, and it is then scanned into OT for cleanup and colouring). OpenToonz also obliterates Flash in regards to compositing: a nodal compositor is available in OT (which Flash does not have). And OpenToonz offers a nodal view of the scene and character structure.

Cut out character animation is again ‘better’ than Flash, and IK is supported as well (up to a point).

Drawing is arguably a bit better compared to Flash - vectors are supported, as well as bitmap. Scenes can be set up in a 3d view of sorts (similar to After Effects).

Where OT excels (in comparison to Flash) is project management. Far better compared to Flash. But at the expense of additional complexity - this is something novice users may get frustrated. Watch this to gain a good understanding of how OT deals with project files and assets: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAHxK0SuPFs&t=6s

OpenToonz was used for some of Ghibli’s largest animation films in the past decade.

Flash has programming and interactive features, which OT lacks. Flash

Soon OT will have the MyPaint bitmap brush engine as well as a horizontal timeline.

All in all, in my opinion Flash just does not compare (at least for animation prowess). But try it out for yourself.
