Baking a particle system onto a static model...?

This may be a silly question, but here goes… I need to create an architectural model for a big presentation. I’ve played around with Blender and really enjoyed it, but now I have been elected to create this presentation, and I’m stuck.

I need to create a model that can be rotated interactively, similar to the models on the Sketchfab site.
Seemed easy enough, until it was time to add the grass…

The project is huge, it is about a virtual square acre, with 12 small features. I’ve modeled the features, and so far so good. The grass is particle based, and there is alot of it. How do I create this model, render it, and then save it with the particle system intact and ready to interact with? Is it possible, or do I need to abandon the particle system and go with something else?

I appreciate any help you might have. Thanks

If you want to use particles, use the particle hair option using particle objects for the a grass
In the particle modifier panel convert the particles to a mesh object
