Tree stump (sculpt practice)

I have been very busy recently, but it is time to get back into blender!!

I spent under three hours on this over the course of the day, and I have to say that I am very pleased with the result!

I am unlikely to do any more on this as it was just practice, however I am interested if anyone has any tips on texturing a complex sculpt like this?

You could use vertex paint it if its not too heavy on the polycount. And paint the texture from there.

Or do a retopology and bake a normal map from the sculpt. UV unwrap it and use a bark tree texture.

Thanks, I had a go but it seems to have too much close detail to get much done with vertex paint. I decided to go with a rather ridiculous node set-up, however it seems to have worked quite well. I will post it up on the finished projects page shortly.
