G'MIC Colorize with Blender Grease Pencil

I was inspired by this forum thread https://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?385290-Open-source-2d-animation-tests for this idea.

I’d like to be able to do an animation in Blender with just lineart and color spots and then use G’MIC smart colorize to color in each frame. My current process in order to do this is animating the line art and adding color spots to have G’MIC extrapolate the colors (similar to this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-3aBQeuBc4).

I’m exporting the lineart and color spots as separate image sequences in order to import into GIMP with the color spots and lineart on different layers. I can figure out how to have the software color in my images on an individual basis. However, I’d like to figure out how to have it do this for every frame automatically.

I’m considering using either GIMP or Krita for the G’MIC processing, though I am open to other options that may be easier.

What is the best way to do this if it is possible?

Hi,

for GIMP, you can install a plugin called BIMP (Batch Image Manipulation Plugin).
It is pretty good if you get the hang of it.
Here is already an existing thread, ask there if you have more questions.
