Airplane Rudder Rotation Problem

Hello all, new to the forums (1st post)
I’m currently trying to Rig my plane so the movable parts rotate correctly.
The Parent object is an Empty Plain Axes, and the child object being the Rudder.

For the Empty Plain Axes, that I’m using to control the rudder object.
The X axis is slightly rotated since the wings aren’t completely vertical.
The Y axis is titled down slightly to match the rudder from side view
The Z axis is what is being used to control the rotation of the rudder.

Here are some pictures to give you an idea of my problem
Rudder is in positions (-40, 0 or 40 Degrees in Z Axis)

I hope someone is able to give some advise on how to solve this problem.
thanks.

Just rotate the empty around it’s local axes. R, Z, Z. Additionally, the unused transforms could be locked since the Z rotation axis is the only one needed. Personally, I would use an armature, not empties, for the rig. Good luck!

Thank you for the response, it works, the rudders rotate correctly.
I think I will use an armature, was just using empties as a quick prototype to see if it works.
