Retopology Workflow For Mechanical Modeling

Not the most obvious thing for many 3D modelers, but I found that a retopology-style workflow helps with mechanical modeling. So I made a video that demonstrates the idea:

Basically the main point is you get a lot of flexibility if you separate volume definition from the process of defining edge-flow. And it gives much nicer and more consistent results if any subdivision is used to smooth a model. :eyebrowlift:
