Designing louvers for a roof vent

Hello! I am new to blender as well as this forum. I have been taking classes via Lynda.com yet there is much more I need to learn before I can confidently navigate the program on my own. That being said, any advice on my below questions would be greatly appreciated!

I am designing a roof vent and need insight of how to create the inside louvers (small rectangular openings 1/8" wide). I would like to add pictures to this forum, but need to figure out how. If I am in the wrong section of this site for a question like this, please let me know!

Here’s the way I do it. No audio, given my current setup. (Turned off, too much background noise to do a good recording.) I could add some annotations if what I’m doing is a bit hard to follow. Still not that ideal as I ended up stumbling in a place or two, even though most goes fast enough.
