Two high quality space scenes needed for upcoming UK based short.

I’m an experienced corporate/commercial director working with a small talented group of filmmakers on a micro-budget short that is shooting in the UK next month and targeting the 2018 festival season.

We are looking for a skilled blender animator to create two short space scenes for inclusion in the film.

Scene 1 - 10-15 seconds

(Real Footage) Over shoulder shot looking down into characters lap on which sits an old cardboard box. The character lifts the lid off the box. As the lid is lifted away, instead of the inside of the box we see (animation) the black expanse of space. A wormhole opens in the middle of the box and the camera swiftly pushes in, through the wormhole and out the other side into an asteroid field heading straight towards one asteroid centre of shot. Another smaller asteroid overtakes the camera entering right of frame on a collision course with the asteroid in centre frame. The two asteroids collide and the smaller rock is deflected left out of the asteroid field and out into open space, the camera pans to follow it. Lower left frame is a star slightly larger and bluer than the rest. Is that earth?

Scene 2 - 6-8 seconds

(Animation) Wide shot. Open space, earth now clearly visible top left of frame. Asteroid enters right of frame heading towards earth, now emitting a debris trail. Camera tracks slowly right into the trail a small piece of debris flies directly into camera completely filling frame (dip to black).

The film shoots in August and is planned to enter post-production in early September for completion at the end of the month, so both scenes would need to be complete in the first week of September. The scenes need to be detailed enough to seem realistic and ideally they would be delivered in 4k but, given the short turnaround time, 2k might be sufficient. The film will be delivered in 2.39:1 aspect ratio so scenes should be composed and animated with this in mind.

The ideal candidate would have prior experience in creating similar scenes at production quality, however we will consider anyone who thinks they’ve got the skills to make this happen or even a group collaboration. There is no budget available to pay for this work, however you will obviously be credited in the finished film and you will be working alongside a team of talented collaborators with strong industry connections and a drive to develop further better funded work, ensuring your work will get exposure.

Given the tight production schedule we are eager to get someone on board as soon as possible so if you are interested in getting involved either post here or PM me with your details and some examples of your work.

I look forward to hearing from you

Thanks
