Blender isnt creating UV for the head of my mesh.

I created a mesh of a character, but I made the head and the body separate and then joined em together into a single mesh, though now the head wont get unwrapped and I don’t know why, did I have to do something else beside just joining them? I am quiet new to blender and 3D so I am not sure.

Some things that might have given issues:

1.I unwrapped the head before joining it to the body.
2.I missed something when I was putting them together, or skipped a step.

Please help, I need this to start working on the textures.

Thanks! I’m pretty new here. :stuck_out_tongue:

Please ALWAYS supply an example .blend file with any support question.

What were the names of both meshes’ UV maps before joining them:
Did they have the same name? Or were they named differently?

If they had different names, Blender would have assumed that you want to keep them separately, so the resulting joined mesh now has two UV maps… If both UV maps had the same name, Blender would have joined the UV maps as well as the meshes.

Hard to say more without seeing the .blend file.

That must be it. The head was named “head” and the body well “body” :stuck_out_tongue:

What could I do to change the names of both at this point and fix this? Or how can I check the UV of the head?

They where indeed named differently.

How can I change this and sync them?

Split them, rename the UV maps and then join them again.

i don’t know about the issue but here you change the UV names

How do I do this?

How do I do this?

Solved it!

The thing was that I was using 2 different materials when I joined them, I just needed to delete both materials and make a new one!
