How Can I get rid of the geometry created by an already applied Solidify modifier ?

When starting scuplting I applied the solidify modifier to my mesh without a second thought, I realized that it messes with the polycount and also the cleanliness of my model.Because of the sculpting some vertices from within the model crossed over the vertices on the outside.Any help to remove the inner geometry would be awesome.
