Best way to model a stitched seam?

Hi all

I’m currently working on a small project and I have to model a stitched seam as shown in the attached image. Does it actually make sense to model the seam or would it be better to use textures, bump and other maps?
How would you model such a stitched seam along a path? With an array modifier?

I really wonder what is the most efficient way to do this.

Any help is appreciated.

Kind regards

Generally I would use an alpha texture, like this one:

But it depends on what is it for.

I would say texturers. Here is on other way: https://youtu.be/gLtZH_E5zjY

Texture in general, for closeup renders you could use a curve for the stitches and a texture for the holes.

At Stabio, it is possible to model it offcourse ( array +curve and bolean ) but seriously, as said in other post, it is a lot of time for not a big result, textures maps ( bump+normal, displacement ).

It is where a software like Substance painter take all his sense…
