Surface Normal Accuracy/Quality Setting?

Is there a surface normal accuracy/quality setting?

Notice the oddities in the Blender screenshot. These oddities show in renders as well.

I intentionally flipped some of the edges to better demonstrate the issue. This issue does not occur in 3dsMax & Silo3D.

Currently using blender-2.78c-windows64.

Insufficient info.
No blend file supplied to review! Why Not ?

Are the faces planar
Have you any internal faces where there shouldn’t be
Do you have duplicate vertices where you shouldn’t be
Are the face normal directions all consistent
Any custom normal data in your file ? If so have you cleared it in the Mesh Geometry Data properties
Any modifiers ?
