From the looks of things, you’re looking at the Python Console, not the Text Editor. That said, there certainly looks like something weird is going on with your fonts.
Can share more information? What operating system are you using? Did you install using files from blender.org or are you getting your install media somewhere else (e.g. Linux distribution package)? Also, what kind of video card is in your computer?
Although it is an old issue, I wanted to say how I solved it and appreciate the answers. I was stupid to change the size and style of the font, if they change the font put a font where the kerning and line break is stable.
