UV mapping a tree STUMP

I am working on the lighting of a scene
but I am really struggling with UV mapping.



There is this tree stump I just can’t get it right.
After seaming and unwrapping, this is what I get.
Shouldn’t the stump UV be straight instead of curvy like that?

can anyone advise on UV mapping complex structures? (not talking about faces or human body)
