Is that all done with Blender? or is the background a real image? Great job!
I would be interested to know more stats such as the render time and # of samples.

Something about the scale seems a little off. Maybe if the rocks on the ground were a little smaller.

Thanks!

Yes the background is an image, but everything else is Blender. Now you mentioned the scale, yep the stones are too big!! May try and sort that, but they are a killer for the poly count.

of samples was 1000, with denoiser just to clean it a bit.

render time was just over 4hrs I think, hit F12 as I left the house.

Real Displacement Textures has a nice, and currently free, gravel texture. I don’t know if it will use less memory, but maybe a combination of a few loose pebbles plus a small amount of displacement could look convincing.

Anyway, if they are free it’s worth having in case you need it later. Check it out here - https://www.rd-textures.com/?s=free&post_type=product

Nice I really like this.

Thanks organic, will take a look there!

An alternative is to use instances for the stones.

Yeah, I’ve gone with instances. Got some strange results trying to tile the maps.
