Close encounter

Thoughts and opinions…

I am surprised that there are no comments, this is good work
However…
I think that angle of the camera and the dark lighting makes it difficult to see the detail.
Also, the story is not clear
Motion blur would be a good addition.

My opinion - no primary subject, too dark, bad composition. Image looks distracting , recompose it to some subject. Good modeling tho, dont hide it in the shadows

Yeah, great modelling and 3d in general, but it’s not a strong composition… your highest point of contrast is in the misdle almost out of frame and all the leading lines are pointing at a not very interesting wall.

Have a look at this guys tutorials:
http://www.autodestruct.com/thumbwar.htm

basically the quickest fix is place an area of interest like that light in 1/3 from the side and make all the lines point at it. Simplistic but it would work.

With the composition, it would probably be stronger if the elements are rearranged. Right now there is no focal point.
Maybe more like this for the major elements. (sorry for the low quality, I doodled this quickly). Or reconsider the angle/shot entirely.

Lighting it up a bit more would allow you to show off more of the model’s detail.

Better?

Maybe raise the little ship up a bit and light it up more? To see the detail.
