Donuts

Anything to add to make it more realistic?

The frosting/icing should have some specular to it.
And the sprinkles should be slightly embedded into said frosting.
I would also consider changing the plate a bit - it seems to be a flat disc, but I think I see some indentation under the bottom donut.

Is this from the Blenderguru tutorial. If so, it’s about as far as he goes, and it certainly pre-dates modern shaders and PBR. You can improve it by following some PBR tutorials and re-working the materials.

Looks good for a stylized render. If you want to push the realism:

  • All the materials could use some fresnel
  • Lower the roughness of the frosting’s glossy. It needs to look a little more “wet”
  • The plate looks a bit thin, bump the thickness juuuust a little
  • Make the lower part of the plate larger, at least make it visible to the camera. Otherwise it looks like the sides of the plate would break if you put too much weight on them
  • The dough is all a single color. Use a noise texture node and a mixRGB node to add some subtle variations in color
