Hi. I’m kind of new to blender, I got the basics and I’m learning new things every day.
Im looking to make a 3D character into some kind of smoke field, like a ghost.
Something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZ4_oEdtPWs .
I’ve been scanning the internet for tutorials with no success.
Anyone knows any tutorials for this? Or how to make it?
I don’t know any tutorial covering this, but it is quite easy if you know how the smoke simulation works (tutorials on this can be found everywhere)
If you know what a smoke domain and a smoke flow object is you are ready to go:
In the smoke domain settings make some basic adjustments: enable adaptive domain (saves computation time), enable Smoke high resolution (for final bake set it to 2) and choose an appropirate resolution (division value).
Set the temperature difference to 0. Then Enable dissolve and uncheck the slow checkbox. Experiment with the time value (I set it to 2) - this determines, how fast the “gost trail” dissapear.
In the smoke flow settings of your ghost set the temperature difference to 0 as well. Set the Flow source of the surface to 0 and experiment with the volume value (i used 1) - this determines, how dense your ghost is
disable rendering of your ghost object (since the ghost is just smoke which is part of the domain).
