How to set up easy Depth of Field control for Cycles?

I’m new to Blender but not 3D in general and am mainly doing arch-viz type stuff. How do you set up focus, focus targets or other such solutions to make depth of field a little more easy to deal with? This is for Cycles I’m asking.

In the camera settings enable Display > Limits.
This will show a yellow “+” sign on the camera’s viewing axis to indicate the focus point (mind you: that “+” will not appear as long as the focal distance is set to 0).

Then adapt the focal distance (or select an object to focus on) and the F-stop value to your liking:

Cool, thanks, I’ll check it out.
