using motion capture with blender

I’ve been wanting to create short films using models created in Blender or SFM and animate them using motion capture.
One film I’m interested in making would be a G1 Transformers film, with Autobot and Decepticon characters from the original G1 show, fighting each other in hand to hand combat. The film would be around 20~30 minutes.
Here are some examples of what I’d want the film’s animation to look like, but I’d want it to be smoother and have real weight to it, which I assume motion capture would help with.

This is a Fall of Cybertron trailer that shows the kind of complexity I’d want to achieve for parts of the film.

How difficult would it be to animate SFM or Blender models using MoCap, and make it look professional and clean like what is shown above?

If you have a dedicated team of 100 people, money for budget and infrastructure, you can get it done in some reasonable time. As a one man band, time frame will probably stretch to infinity.

Try to get a really simple mocap setup running (literally a box or stick) and then work from there. If you have to ask, how difficult something like this would be, it will give you a glimpse of what to expect if you want any kind of quality on top of even making it work.
