I want to learn how to sculpt fantasy characters and items. I need this specific brush with very hard edges and ridge, like on this image:
But I can’t figure out how to make it in Blender.
I tried every brush setting, curve and even textures, but nothing works. By the way, curves make no sense, they all look pretty much the same.
on suggestion here
why don’t you start a rough model sort of low poly then add with sculpting the details using dynatopo!
happy bl

That’s the problem, I can’t add details I want because it seems to be impossible to form brush with such hard-edged cross-section.

You could try using the crease tool and invert it to crease outwards (hold ctrl while sculpting). That’s what I do to get those nice hard edges.

Option two:
Use the default sculpting brush
Set your brush curve to line
Add a brush texture to your sculpt brush
Go to texture tab and set the type to blend
Enable color ramp
Add three color stops
Make two of them colored black with the alpha set to 1, place at 0.0 and 1.0
Make the third one colored at like .6,.6,.6 with alpha at 1, place in the middle at .5
Up the contrast to like 5.0
