Baking Ambient Occlusion from Hi poly to lo.

I feel like I should be doing this right but I’m getting some weird effects.

I think I’m following the tutorials correctly, but I keep getting this massively black result.

Okay yeah got rid of the weird blackness but it’s still not giving me much detail.

I notice the parts that it does show are the parts that are outside the low poly mesh. Places where the bumps are a little high so it rises above the low poly mesh.

For baking normal maps, you’re supposed to have most everything contained within in the Low Poly mesh’s area. Is the opposite true for some reason for AO?

I have no clue why it’s not working but I loaded up in Marmoset Toolbag 3 and it worked easy peezy :frowning:

I like being able to do everything in Blender, but the more I learn about 3D, the more it seems that using other programs is a necessity.

Oh thank you that’s really helpful. I thought I tried this but I guess I didn’t do it right!. Thank you!
