Newbie Texturing Question

Setting the scene, relatively new to 3D design and printing. Everything I do is for 3D printing and mostly for table top gaming.

I have successfully worked in Sketckup and Fusion 360.

Basic stuff I can get done fairly easily. I know want to design for printing Asian style village houses with straw walls and roofs.

Can anyone please point me towards good tutorials for doing this please.

I have read differing techniques from “sculpting” to using height maps from 2D images and tried them but without success.

Thanks in advance.

anything? anybody? :frowning:

You can sculpt your basic shapes for the matting and whatever else and then add a straw texture and use a displacement on bring out the shape of the straw a little.

Or you might create actual straw with curves and then use them to make the other objects.
