Cell Fracture Not Working

I don’t know if this is the right place for posting but whatever. When i try to use cell fracture on cube shaped things they just turn into 4 smaller cubes instead of random chunks. Does anyone know how to fix this?

It is probably a problem with matching of the shape and used the source.
If you use cell fracture on a cube only with it as a reference, you only have its 8 vertices as a source to create fracture.
If you use a particle system, you can have a thousand of points as references to create fracture.

In that last case, by default cell fracture addon limits number of reference points used to keep the addon responsive and have a quick solution.

But if you have a shape with holes to break, fracture will be successful if there is a source point in the hole and another one outside of the object.
When no pertinent source point is found, you obtain a small cube.

So according to what is your source, you have to change it to make it more pertinent or to increase default source limit above 100 (with the cost of a longer fracturing process) or both.
