[VSE] How to add a custom effect strip script?

Hi everyone.

I want some functionality added to VSE’s Add > Effect Strip… > Transform. I thought about using that effect as a starting point and implementing a custom one with the features I need. But I looked around and found no tutorial on how to do that.

So, how do I add a custom effect strip? Is it even possible?

have you looked at the Transform addon? It uses the transform strip but automates much of the button clicking for a better UX.

No, I hadn’t; now I did. It doesn’t do what I wanted, but I’ve looked at the code and I think I can adjust it to do what I want. So, thank you for now!

What I wanted was to add a new kind of effect strip, such that it would appear in the menu under Add > Effect Strip… But I’ll make do with shortcuts. It will probably be better.

If I remember well, there is no way to add a new effect complete, with only python en NLE. I tried once, for implementing some ideas, but I couldnt’.
But, if you search this forum, one coder found a work around for a new effect through G’MYC. It lack a little of usability.
