Sword in the Stone

Hey, y’all.

This is the first project I started after doing some tutorials made by Blender Guru.

I know this has issues aesthetically, such as the fireflies. Is there anything I could change to get this further away from 90’s PC game graphics and closer to photo realism??? I know that goal is a long way off. I’m trying to learn some of the little bits in Blender that really help.

If it helps, here is the blend file.

Nice work for a first project! Some small things I noticed, try adding some more light to illuminate those pitch black areas. I can see that you’re going for a dark scene, but the pitch black gives it a lot of dead space. A softer transition from light to dark for the ray of light might increase the photo-realism as well. Also, if you would like to keep that beam of light shining on the sword, use some volumetrics. There are tons of tutorials on that, I think even on blender guru. Lastly, try using some displacement on the materials for the stone background and the mossy rock.
