"Alike" into 2d animation

Hi, it’s a first time i’m here so, i’ll try to speak as clear as i can.

Recently I saw blender short “alike” and it really inspired me.
The question is can/may i recreate it in 2d? (Copyright stuff)
(I know it’s dumb question)
Couldn’t find any thread where to ask this so i came here, cause of this brilliant community.

As fan art, or a study for personal use you’re probably fine to do it. For anything else other than that, you would want to get clear permission.
