Is this a bug or ? 2.79 thigh IK target

I noticed that after using rigify, the thigh IK target shape isn’t there (it’s the one that controls the direction the knee points). It’s hidden from view for some reason. When I unhide it and move it, or do anything, it hides again. Am I missing something here?

Select the foot/whatever, go to the properties, then change one of the numbers.
There’s pole (what you’re looking for) and axis or something else (the pitchipoy/ new default)
Pole is the sphere, and axis is the two arrows.

I’m not going to open Blender/run rigify to find the exact thing for you, so just play with the sliders til you find it.

Select the foot IK handle (foot_ik.L), and then in the options menu to the right (‘n’ key to open), set the pole vector to ‘1’ instead of ‘0’. This will allow you to move the thigh_ik_target.
