Unable to find CUDA in user preferences for version 2.79

I’m trying to find CUDA for GPU rendering in the user preferences and all it shows is this:

How can I fix this? My computer is a Lenovo Y50 and the GPU is Nvidia GeForce GTX 860M. I’ve updated the drivers and restarted the computer. I’m using Windows 10.

Thanks!

I don’t think this thread has the answer…it’s mainly about ATI cards.

Could be a broken cuda installation, see if a tool like cuda-z works.

Thanks! I downloaded it and found out that I actually did have an outdated driver (had to manually update it). However, it still isn’t showing in User Preferences. I really can’t figure out why this is happening.

If you go to window->show console, anything interesting in there?

get the lastest intel driver and the latest nvidia driver

uninstall nvidia driver
RESTART THE COMPUTER
uninstall intel driver
RESTART THE COMPUTER

install the intel driver
RESTART THE COMPUTER
install the nvidia driver
RESTART THE COMPUTER

failure to follow these instructions may lead to major issues, such as the infamous black screen.

UPBGE doesnt seem to see cuda.

I figured it out. Turns out I had downloaded a faulty version of Blender 2.79 Fracture Modifier Build (which I always use). If you do get the Fracture Modifier build (have to use it as a build; there is no addon), make sure you get the latest version. I got mine from Dennis Fassbaender’s site.
