Gimp2.9.6 does not open exr

Gimp2.9.6 -windows does not open exr(single layer) from blender.i am trying portable build from Partha https://www.partha.com/ does any other build work?(want to avoid installation)

I was unable to open one this weekend, but I was able to open one in Krita if that’s any help.
