Porn in my Game

I have a question about Steam’s policy when it comes to what they consider to be pornographic material. My game:

is finally finished and I’m ready to submit it to Steam. However in the game, for the tutorial system, I have a giant computer screen which displays a youtube-styled web page inside a browser that you can shoot missiles at in order to activate its corresponding tutorial. On this screen, along with the tutorials, is a “Porn tab” marked “XXX”. When the player fires a missile at this “Porn tab”, the computer switches screens to a fake “Porn website” that features a photo of two dogs humping along with some other stupidly funny things that youtube gamer culture loves so much. My question is, will Steam consider this stupid joke as actual porn and reject my submission? Or will they be cool about it?

i think this is a can of worms that should be avoided. theres a possibility that the bge could be erroneously connected to crude content, on top of the already low quality rep. plus, you would need to rate your game as being crude, which narrows your audience.

call me old school, but i believe none of this garbage should be a part of media any more than it is.

unless you are reputable and the game has some really good gameplay and excellent graphics, then you can get away with questionable easter eggs a bit easier.

also, you need to consider how that content is licensed. you just cant pull anything off the internet and put it in your game.

I agree with you Daedalus.

“call me old school, but i believe none of this garbage should be a part of media any more than it is.”

I’m neither a fan of childish humor nor beastiality. I regret to say that from what I’ve seen on these youtube gaming channels like Pewdiepie etc is that this kind of stupid stuff inside of broken games is what seems to sell. If it wasn’t for crude humor I’m sure that pewdiepie wouldn’t have 60 million subscribers. So I know it’s what the kids want. And I see other games on Steam that are way more crude than two dogs humping. So right now I’m stuck between keeping my dignity as a developer or selling out to the immature comedic desires of the modern gamer. And it’s also a shame how BGE has such a bad wrap in the first place. Honestly, the only problem I see with BGE is that there is no internal method for exporting to Android lol. Thanks for your input man.

It does not really matter if you think the OP should have included it or not. The question is if it’s pornography as defined by Steam.

I sort of doubt it, at least based on what the OP is describing. Seems more like toilet humor.

Why do you expect anyone in this forum to be able to answer you on the policies of Steam. Why would you not just ask in the steam forums. By asking this question you’re acknowledging that you think what you have included is ‘suspect’ and has the risk of not being accepted. Ask Steam or why take the risk of including something so juvenile

Steam has finally replied to my inquiry today. They said:

"The attached image is fine. We wouldn’t consider this pornographic and you are free to include it in your app. "

I’m gona use it!!! Wohooooo baby…yay freedom of speeech oh yea!!! Humping dogs…wooooooo!
