Challenge #760 Voting CLOSED

This week’s theme:

bus stop

After 2 days of voting, a winner is declared: The voting will close on Wednesday.
The winner picks the theme for next week.

[ If the winner doesn’t supply a theme before Thursday 22:30 GMT, the organizer will select the theme. In this case, the winner’s theme will be used the next time we are lacking a theme on Thursday 22:30 GMT. ]

Having selected the theme, the winner will not be eligible to enter that week. They may however still submit an image, but it won’t be included in the voting.

astiero`s entry was amazing and has a good story around it.

My vote went to skadoosh because it gave off a sad feeling and it was very well done. The mood was set perfectly.

Skadoosh, you got votes from US.

Thank you guys!

My vote goes to purbosky, it reminds me my school years when i waited for bus and it always had problems arriving

@Helge very good looking water you got there
@RobertT Woah! It’s huge! I really like the colors there
@astiero how did you achive such a great effect? Stunning work!

I have long hesitated between astiero and Photox, but ended up voting for Photox. There are many other entries I love, it is a shame I can only vote once!

Lol I wish I could vote for few entries, but in the end, I went with joshwinkler3d because I liked the idea of a small cube and the water shader is excellent. Awesome entries everyone. I enjoyed seeing the ideas. Apparently a lot of us dream of flying? Haha.

Shanfara, quality choice! Since you can’t vote twice, I’ll put another vote in astiero’s column, as it would be my own choice too.

welcome back everyone  the 502 was starting to worry me.

finally can vote now, so as i said… Great work @purbosky!

I’ll give some comments to some of you now, and the rest comes tomorrow.

LordVoldemort99: Spooky. I liked the rusty, mysterious look.

skadoosh: Nice atmosphere. That rose was a nice touch, it gave the image something to look at. The image does feel a bit empty, but the emptiness works in the end, giving a feeling of loneliness.

Lilwarm: Peculiar idea. Do people wait inside or outside the tube?

purbosky: Nice story-telling. Can be understood in a certain metaphorical way, as a person who never fulfilled their dreams because they never had the opportunity.

kaidoe: That would be pretty cool, if you could just take a shuttle to mars any day! And they seem to depart quite often. I liked how you mixed something ordinary with spaceships.

astiero: Nice atmosphere, the image feels quite calm (and cold). The clouds and fog on the background are pretty cool.

beau11: Nice bright/dark contrast. Also good story-telling. The person could be a bit more visible (the bus stop is in the way). Btw, why is the grass so tall? Playing around too much with grass essentials? :stuck_out_tongue:

fcharr: This reminds me of the intro of Futurama, with tubes going everywhere. I liked the contrast between reflections and rough surfaces. It is also cool how there are many trains driving around, giving the impression that this happens in a very busy city. It just seems a bit dangerous to jump over that gap to board the train

fdo: Really nice sculpting! This would look awesome with some materials! I liked the idea too.

M2o: Interesting how this looks “modern”, in the sense that some city could have a bus stop that looks like this, yet the stop looks pretty “unique”.

didierv: That astronaut is so cute! The bus looks nice, like a mixture of a spaceship with the busses in London

joshwinkler3d: Really nice; it is cool to see water sliced like that (and the water looks really good). Also, the dog on the boat was a very nice touch. And I guess the umbrella doesn’t protect from water that comes from below

Photox: I really liked the style, it makes the biscuits really look like biscuits. The lighting is pretty cool too.

str11: It is always raining in cyberpunk land  I liked how there are neon lights everywhere, without being too many of them. The red/yellow/orange colours are nice too. I think I would understand the image better if I knew Russian (I can only read the word “transport”), but the Soviet vibe is pretty cool. By the way, is that a map of Moscow?

DreamMaster: I liked the smooth shades caused by the lighting. Also, the way that the bus reflects part of the sky is pretty cool.

Shenfara: Nice toon style. The bus stands out pretty well. The scene is a bit empty though, maybe the bus shouldn’t be standing in the way of the bus stop.

FlyingBanana: You know, those chains make me think that the planet must be some prisoner colony, and those are the stops where the new prisoners arrive. The reflection on the bus are pretty nice.

Thanks! In deserts and images lacking details you can never have enough of that. Nothing replaces nothing by something as fast as a mirror.

So true!

I wanted to welcome LordVoldemort99, Lilwarm, bluberri and GlassViolet13 to the challenge. But obviously, that didn’t work out today. But now, and as everyone seems to be back in one piece: Welcome! Nice to see you around.

@DreamMaster:
I just realized, you have a VERY long standing weekend challenge history. You literally have been around for ages. (e.g. won #6)
Quite an honor - so, welcome back!

I very much love both of your and his/her work. That effect you added with the sketchy lines all over the place especially tickled my fancy! I wonder how you achieved such results!

Thank you for the feedback! I strongly agree with you regarding the emptiness of my scene! I did not realize that fact until you pointed that out. I will try to add more things next time, in order to make the image feel more alive, as if it was taken from a living world.

Finally, I wish to thank the two persons who voted for my humble work! I am both surprised and moved!

lol, thanks Millani, was going to add some stairs, but took the less is more route instead

@DreamMaster - Thanks for the feedback and the vote  , as said above, welcome back. A nice entry to start with.

@Millani - Thanks for the feedback as always. The dog was a last minute addition, I something needed to occupy the boat and didn’t have time to make a convincing human, worth doing as it added to the scene.

The water is a Glass Shader (IOR 1.55) with two colours (blue+aqua/turquoise) mixed in the Color with the Layer Weight node (0.6), the top surface is a Displacement Modifier with a Clouds texture.

Thanks for the votes, PB is now 5

@millani thanks for the comment! Yes I agree that the man is hard to see but I also feel it adds a mystery element as well. The grass essentials are also amazing and I can’t help using them!!

Millani, thank you for your feedback. Always appreciate that! Your piece was awesome too! It has a slight Fallout vibe to it.

Helge, lol! I was hoping nobody would notice it because it says a lot about my age. Thank you for the welcome back. Too bad my image there no longer works. I sold that domain name and used that money to get a new life.

No problem Johnwinkler3d. I need to play some more with layer weight - I don’t think I’ve done that yet. It gave a nice result for sure!

Thank you all for the votes. I didn’t even expect to get any votes because I’m still so out of Blender’s world. It has evolved so much! Haha.

@Millani Thanks for your feedback, that’s very appreciate for me.About map yeah this is Moscow you’re not mistaken),and on the poster is it written “The falling of the labor discipline is destroying transport”.
And by the way your entry very cool too.I voted for it.
You can get an interesting animation video clip

Some very cool entries this week. - I voted for Millani, I really liked the design of all the elements in your scene. The bridge does not look very trustworthy, but the bus driving robot seems to be quite friendly somehow. ^^. …
I also really like astieros entry. - It´s a bit hard to tell what has been rendered in eevee and what was added in gimp to create that cool “concept sketch” look. - If you would care to share some insights on the process you used to create that image, that would be much appreciated.

Last but not least:

caz747: Guess someone couldn’t wait for the bus and decided to take a faster vehicle. I liked the somewhat subtle signed with “Area 51” on it. That UFO looks cool and it stands out well from the background. Its beam could be a bit brighter, in my opinion.

OLG: Nice model of Rosie. The red and blue reflections look pretty interesting; something on them make them look a bit supernatural. I just think the asteroid looks a bit too evenly lit.

RobertT: Breath-taking! I like this kind of image, as it makes me think in what kind of society such a huge vehicle would be used for daily travel. The cloudy sky is also very amazing.

Helge: Nice colours. I suppose it might be a bit too dangerous to be so close to another flying vehicle. That stack of mice in the foreground made me smile. My only question is: Why is “STOP” written backwards on those signs?

GlassViolet13: Really nice how you gave a personality and emotions to the vehicles. The colours are also pretty.
