Challenge #765 Voting CLOSED

This week’s theme:

Anthropomorphism

After 2 days of voting, a winner is declared: The voting will close on Wednesday.
The winner picks the theme for next week.

[ If the winner doesn’t supply a theme before Thursday 22:30 GMT, the organizer will select the theme. In this case, the winner’s theme will be used the next time we are lacking a theme on Thursday 22:30 GMT. ]

Having selected the theme, the winner will not be eligible to enter that week. They may however still submit an image, but it won’t be included in the voting.

Great entries everyone can’t wait to see who takes the torch into next challenge.

It always surprises where the votes go! :eyebrowlift2: Its a pretty divers group of entries this time.

Missed it by a half hour!! Haha work got in the way time wise I was finishing up the render thought I had more time. Going to post anywy because I loved this topic great choice!

Pure

Genie of the Hookah

Really tough for me to choose between DanielJH, Ivo002, and Semicolonkid. I love that all three of them are kind of puns, they’re all executed really well. But I think im gonna go with Semicolonkid, just because im a sucker for swords and shields. Also possibly because im about to go to sleep and, you know, desire for pillows.

Really nice images, everyone!

I ultimately voted for RayVelcoro but enjoyed each of your entries!

DanielJH’s entry made me smile, in particular, as it took me back a bit…

over a decade ago… to WC # 267 (“Icy Waste” theme), for which I created…

The Frantic, Fleeting Life of a Snowflake

LOL =) It’s so good to have fun with these challenges.

Looking forward to the next WC!

RobertT

Aww, thanks!
I’m really impressed with all these entries, too. I eventually decided to vote for Iridesium’s, but not before agonizing over a number of them for a while. I’m glad I found this Weekly Challenge forum.

Nice entries everyone! I have been gone for a while and I have really missed being a part of it. Hopefully I will have a little more free time soon and I can be more involved. Here is something that I did for SculptJanuary that fits with the theme.

Thx Robert, appreciate it! Had some favorites right away, gave it some more thoughts and decided that my vote goes to Joshwinkler this week. It was close to the subject, decent modeling and nice lighting! Well done!

@RobertT - Haha that’s awesome, and here I thought I was being original.

As we can clearly see who the winner is in this challenge ,can we get an early theme this week.

Some suggestions for next weeks theme:

  • Another World
  • Fiction meets Reality
  • Superhero
  • A Unique Future for Humanity

I must admit I am working on a super hero character right now so that may have inspired that idea.

Another World would be interesting, I was thinking:

Symmetry
Or Reflection

These kinds of entries seem to have a habit of performing amazingly well.

(My entry from #628 - Liquid)

Yeah, if you just think about the water, there’s something distinctly interesting about it, it’s not only a macro shot, you also have to freeze time to see it.
The visual look was inspired by this photo I took years ago, spraying water out of a garden hose. It’s my desktop bg.

I haven’t been active lately, sorry. I just installed fortnite so I’ve been doing that :P. Great entries everybody!

Cheers guys! I’m finally Back! Those were damn two busy weeks and I’m dead tired, but I think I’ll have time to get back to the challenges at last! I have been running around to get myself a new job and I might be getting it soon if things go as planned, pray for me

The entries were all great, but DanielJH’s entry made me smile haha it’s so cute xD so I voted for it. Great work everyone!

Some comments:

RayVelcoro: Now that’s what I call multi-tasking! Those arms remind me of that flexible part of some straws, with all the waves. The cat’s face is very friendly, though the whiskers seem to be in the wrong place

Ansaar13: Is this a reference to some cartoon? I’m pretty sure I saw some anthropomorphic cups somewhere. Funny how you made the handle be the nose. The candles look quite cute too.

Dieedi: Spooky. I liked the rough texture of the tree and all those vines and roots. They make it look very old. Only the sky is missing.

Nikos096: So that’s what Darth Vader wanted to do with Hans Solo  (did you put this as pure just to annoy people?)

ivo002: That bottle looks quite tipsy! Funny thing is, it will probably get sober again when Friday comes and somebody drinks it
I liked how you curved the top of the bottle, making it look more “human”. It’s just missing a face, but that is a question of taste.

purbosky: That starfish seems to be enjoying its nap. Cool details, with juice, a surf board and a palm tree. What is the juice made of? Leaves?

DanielJH: Very nice lighting, and really cool water effect. Each droplet looks somewhat different from the others. The only strange thing in my opinion are the black parts representing the eyes and the mouth. They give me the impression that there is a fish or something inside the droplet.

Semicolonkid: That pillow fight got serious! The cloth seems well done with all the ripples. That shield also looks cool. The image just lacks a bit of sense of movement, in my opinion. Maybe if one of the pillows were about to strike?

fcharr: Haha, nice play on words! The wyrm looks pretty cool, specially the nails. The face is also nice (the pig nose is a bit strange, but it is ok). It is just a bit peculiar that things seem to be floating around, but maybe it is a magic book

joshwinkler3d: I liked that character, it looks very interesting. The glasses and tie were a nice touch. Composition is a bit strange though; I get the impression that the pelican barely fits on the frame.

bluberri: Nice play on words too. The moon looks pretty cool, is it a texture or a model?

Photox: Haha, subtle. You even put the telescope on the right angle  Nice lightning, and cool mountains. That trick works very well.

Iridesium: As I said before, I really liked that armour and the lighting on the warrior. The way you changed the position of the helmet made the pose much more natural. But I must say it took me a while to understand the surroundings. Is that a lake? A waterfall? Are the rocks close or far?

caz747: Poor projector, has to watch very creepy movies over and over again. I liked how you even made some small hands around its mouth. Also, funny reference to your previous entries

FlyingBanana: That drier is really sick of it! The towel looks very realistic. You and caz747 should check this site.

str11: Strong image. I really loved the colours here, and also how the planet looks desperate and powerless at the same time. The magma looks really nice, and the chunks are nicely varied. This would be a really cool wallpaper!

TomZed: I liked how there is a lot going on here, many buildings and such. That Eiffel tower looks pretty funny
I just think that the smoke-man didn’t really add much to the image, and ended up distracting me from the tower. It also seems to be just pasted there.

YAYA: Hahaha, that baldy Suzanne ain’t fooling around. It looks like the poster of some Bollywood film

DoriNori: I can’t help but find it really funny how you took a photo of your screen showing your render instead of just grabbing the image. I understand the reason, but it is still funny. Also, how didn’t your friend notice the fan was getting quite loud?

Helge: This reminds me of this tip about near-tangents. By placing the tusks and ears very close to the borders, the elephant looks much bigger and menacing. I must confess, at first I didn’t realize that elephants don’t have noses like that  I ended up associating the title with other expressions that end in job and start with some body part, and your entry suddenly felt really creepy. But now it is funny

RobertT: Little does Neptune know how much chaos it is causing around the scientific community, which cannot explain how a planet simply vanishes. Is pretty funny how the planet looks all playful.

@Millani Thanks for your kind words as usual.Much appreciate it.Recently you touched an interesting theme about pure/open entry. I would propose an even more advanced voting system.Something like this:

I absolutely agree. Capturing motion in an image is something I’d really like to get better at, and this was my exact biggest critique of it when I finished.

Also, I love that you took the time to give everyone a detailed remark on their work. That’s really cool!
