What is the proper way to white balance in blender

I guess I can’t white balance camera or rendering, so somehow in compositing?

Yeah, you do it in post. Blender’s compositor doesn’t have an actual white balance function, so you need to either wing it with a node like color balance, or send an .exr to another compositing tool such as Fusion that does have a white balance function.

That’s weird… I’m a noob in blender, just getting used to it. But still I can get almost all post done in blender’s compositing and then, just to do white balance I have to go into another software?

You can always divide by the white containing a color cast:

Eyedrop a pixel you want to appear white.

Probably a better way is to use the scopes to do color correction. I’m no expert, but something like this?

Then there’s White Balance modifier in VSE (since 2.77a)

Rgb curves have black and white levels in the compositor.

I have been working on a super simple White Balance UI add-on (which tweaks the curves in the background), send me a PM if you want to try it.
