@Photox Thanks! Like FlyingBanana, the theme also reminded me of your ‘nightmare’ entry
Some comments:
RayVelcoro: This reminds me of your drone from two weeks ago. I liked the material and the distribution of smooth vs. highly detailed regions. I’m just not sure how one puts this on the head
darkphoenix: The slayer became the slayed it seems. I really liked how you subtly hinted on the cause of death by breaking part of the helmet and adding blood stains. The model and textures are pretty cool. One thing that bothers me is the lighting though. It doesn’t seem to fit the foggy background.
didierv: Nice collection of helmets. Interesting to see different historical times represented by variations of the same object. The Templar helmet is my favourite of the four.
fcharr: A very iconic helmet. I liked the “hair” on top of it (but I thought it was always red).
Hondo: Funny how you used the red of the watermelon to represent blood. You also captured the sense of action pretty well. I just ask myself how can a bullet slice a watermelon in three like that
alf0: Interesting colours, looking like some desaturated old photo or something like that. The silhouette of the person was a nice touch.
PyBlend: You can never have enough gadgets in a cap! I wonder how useful it is to have a compass on top of your head, where you can’t see it…
david.speer: Cool how you focused on the reflections, kind of showing what the astronaut would be seeing (if there were an astronaut inside, that is). I just think that the lighting is drawing the attention always from the helmet rather than towards it.
joshwikler3d: For some reason, I imagine the octopus saying something like “Hello there, darling”, and the scuba diver going all “Eww!”. Anyway, funny picture! I particularly liked the eyes.
dustsounds: Very cool details, you manage to transmit the fearful appearance of those masks pretty well. The teeth are particularly cool.
caz747: Hehe, funny title. I always found those predator masks to be really cool, and I think you made a good job modelling this one. I just think the mouth part is too flat.
Iridesium: Pretty cool, in both senses of the word ;). I liked those tentacle things on the back. I’m just confused about how you see when wearing one of those things.
str11: Awesome! I really liked the lighting and how you subtly used a bit of orange colour. The details are very cool, and I can see facial features like eyes and mouth even though the robot does not have any of those things. What is a CTAC, by the way?
beau11: Nice use of silhouettes. I just think the light outside is too gray, I would expect something more yellowish, specially because of the sand.
Sci-fi-guy: I can’t put my finger on why, but this really looks like something from the 50s or 70s (I’m not old enough to tell the difference). Very interesting idea, and it looks very photo-realistic too. The radio antenna was pretty funny
Helge: You really livened up the scene by adding colour! The colours in the background are very pretty and make the image feel even more cheerful. I liked how the little creature inside the egg is looking at its daddy. Did your daughter convince to go competing this time?
FlyingBanana: I really liked the details of the bench, with dirt and stuff like that. The lighting really feels like a stadium at night. I just think it would make more sense if the reflections on the helmets looked more like those lamps used at stadiums.
Piet: Funny how the helmet has a hole for Suzanne’s ears, and also how it is longer in order to cover her mouth.
OLG: Nice statue, it conveys a tribal feeling pretty well. Also cool how you mixed hight-tech with primitive lances. I just suppose that the toothpick cloak must be a bit uncomfortable to wear (I know it’s not made of toothpicks, but it looks like).
purbosky: Nice crown, it looks like the kind of thing from Legend of Zelda or some other Japanese game. I particularly liked the “blades”. Also good realization from 2d to 3d
RobertT: Interesting how it looks like the helmet and the suit of the astronaut are made of with one long “string”. I also liked how there seems to be some bright blue thing close to the astronauts head, yet I can’t properly see what it is. Now I’m curious to know what it is! (Maybe it’s the portal’s threshold?).
Managed to make it a few minutes before the voting ended
