Diagnose crash circumstance (rendering)

Hello.

Blender crashes at a very certain point while rendering (every file has its own point). Error usually shuts my graphics card down momentarily; CUDA out of memory is the problem, but monitoring with GPU-Z shows that only 350MB out of 2GB VRAM were used. It doesn’t happen on my workstation, but I can’t use that when I’m away. Besides, its GPU also has 2GB of Vram.

I could probably fix the issue if I knew what was causing it, but this way I can’t trace the cause. Is there another way to diagnose the problem? Something specific you can look at?

mobile:
i5 dualcore (+2 virtual cores 2.5Ghz)
Nvidia 635M (2GB vram)
8GB RAM

workstation:
i5 quadcore (3.5 Ghz)
Nvidia Quadro k2200 (2GB vram)
16GB RAM

2GB vRAM is relatively little memory to work with Cycles these days. Are you sure you are monitoring vRAM usage correctly? Is your nvidia card used to render also handling the Display?. If so, you should also consider vRAM used by OS ¿What is the Windows version you use?.
You should monitor the vRAM with GPU-z when while rendering.
Which version of Blender do you use? Are you using Denoising? What tile size in the scene?

If you can, it would be good if you shared the scene here with packed textures.
